Grace Outreach Ministry, Kenya

Grace Outreach Mission (GOM) cares for orphaned children from throughout the southern region of Kenya. Pastor Phillip Ochieng and his wife Rose work primarily in Uriri, Kenya. The ministry focuses on evangelism and education, and the gospel is at the heart of everything that they do.

The campus of GOM houses a church, children’s home, and abundant meeting space for skills training and theological classes. Nearby, Phillip farms nearly 40 acres of maize and sugar cane, which is grown to feed the children in the program. They also have an operational fish farm where they are harvesting tilapia.

Pastor Phillip and the ministry at Grace Outreach spend time working within the community assisting widows and orphans, many of whom have AIDS.  By ministering to the physical needs of this group of people, they are afforded the opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ with them as well.  The women are taught valuable life skills and are trained in vocational areas that they can then utilize to earn an income for themselves and their families.

The church ministry is growing and Grace has also planted an additional church. Pastor Phillip works closely with the new church and is helping by providing some financial support as well as leadership skills and additional training in how to grow a sustainable church.

Nearly 30 children call Grace Outreach home where they are embraced and cared for by loving caretakers. Phillip and Rose care for the children like they are their own, exposing them to Christian teaching through the local church, and teaching the value and dignity of hard work in school and their chores.

education60 Education

Approximately half of the children at Grace Outreach are in secondary school. In Kenya, this means that they are in boarding school. The younger children live at the home and attend local primary schools. When the students go on to secondary school, the ministry sponsors them by paying their school fees.  Grace is currently building a secondary school on their 40-acre campus which will allow additional children to continue in their education.
