Ministry Update

q7zf_photo_1It is a privilege for us to be a part of the great commission and equip a team of workers in Russia that are eager to reach out to the “least of these” in the orphanages and villages. We recently were able to sit down and talk with Zhanna’s daughter Alina about her work in the summer camps. We asked her what she thought was the best way to “connect” with the orphans that come each year. Her answer was “I just talk about Jesus!”. Someone once said “I am not sure of the question, but the answer is Jesus!” Please continue to pray that God would give our family wisdom as we seek to encourage and equip the National Church in Russia.

Philippians 3:14 — I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

HFL 2 Misha & Lena— Misha and Lena and their family have welcomed little Misha, 2 yrs old into their home. Misha has been hospitalized and in government care for the past few months. He was neglected by his alcoholic parents. Misha is excited to be in a home with many siblings and is doing great!
Misha & Lena are also excited about their outreach to the neighborhood through weekly Bible studies. One girl who lives in their neighborhood would steal things from the HFL kids when she would visit, but because of the unconditional love of the kids she recently brought everything she took back and asked for forgiveness. The light in this dark neighborhood is shining bright! Pray with us that God would use the seeds planted to reap a church.

Summer Camps— Things are gearing up for our annual summer camp! We would like to help 80 kids go to camp this year! We are also considering a trip to Russia this summer, please pray for all the details and for God’s confirmation. The picture is of Masha, she was led to the Lord by another orphan who went to camp and came back and shared Christ with Masha. She is one of many orphans Zhanna mentors. The picture was taken on one of her recent trips to the hospital for her diabetes treatment. We have provided her with a cell phone so that she can keep in touch with Zhanna. We also give her food and clothing. Masha is a girl full of faith and love for the Lord! She has “I Love Jesus” written on her head!

Closed doors reopen— Several years ago we had the privilege of hearing Anya from HFL1 home share the Christmas story in a government orphanage. when we left the director thanked us and invited us back. Then she reported our home to the officials saying the house parents were part of a cult. It created some minor problems. That director is now gone. There is a couple from a Russian church from Vladivostok going to this village as missionaries. Last fall they evangelized for three months, now they have a weekly Bible study. Zhanna took them to the orphanage and introduced them to the new director. Last fall we bought windows for this orphanage, and have worked to build a relationship with this director and the missionary couple now has open access to the orphanage kids and has been asked by the director to be the sports director for the orphanage! Some of the orphans are allowed to go to their Bible study and God is doing AMAZING things through them. Please continue to pray for this new ministry!

HFL1 Alexey and Lena— Alexey and Lena thank each of you who faithfully pray for their family. The children are getting into the teen years and of course face new challenges. All of them have been sick recently. They specifically ask for your prayers for the children that are in school, that God would protect them and give them knowledge.
